WHY THIS ROLE
Los Alamos National Laboratory is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Administrative Assistant to provide essential office support to laboratory staff. The primary focus of this role is digitizing hardcopy documents•scanning files into electronic systems and properly shredding physical copies•while supporting a range of general administrative activities. This is an entry-level, full-time temporary position ideal for candidates looking to gain experience in a federal laboratory environment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Scan hardcopy documents into electronic filing systems with accuracy and attention to detail Shred hardcopy documents following proper records management and security protocols Maintain and organize electronic and hardcopy files Track and convey messages and generate internal and external correspondence as needed Coordinate calendars, schedules, meeting logistics, and travel arrangements as assigned Order office supplies and maintain inventory Serve as a resource for staff regarding established administrative policies and procedures Support general office operations and other administrative tasks as directed
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Citizenship required High school diploma or equivalent•entry level candidates welcome Little or no previous administrative experience required•on the job training provided Basic computer proficiency including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) Strong attention to detail and ability to handle repetitive tasks accurately Reliable, punctual, and professional in a federal office environment
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Prior office, clerical, or administrative experience a plus Experience with document scanning equipment or electronic filing systems Familiarity with records management or document control practices
