Administrative Assistant/Registrar - School Counseling Dept. 2026-2027 School Year Shrewsbury High School is looking for a dynamic and dedicated professional to join its school counseling office clerical team. This individual will provide essential administrative support to our Director and School Counseling staff. The individual must be flexible, able to perform in a busy, fast-paced office setting, and be comfortable interacting with students, parents, educators and administrators. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication and computer skills, be able to multi-task, be willing to take on new challenges, exercise standards of confidentiality regarding sensitive information and school records, and be a collaborative team player. This position works a full-time, full-year schedule (7:20am-3:20pm Monday-Friday, 7.5 hours per day, 37.5 hours per week) and is eligible for benefits. The current rate of pay is $24.68-$30.71 per hour based on experience. The 2026-2027 school year rates are to be determined pending School Committee approval. - Greets visitors and oversees the organization and running of the school counseling reception area and the career center.
- Coordinate school counseling duties with the additional school counseling support.
- Assists with phone coverage and mailings.
- Coordinates new student registration and the transfer of students to other districts.
- Processes a variety of documents and materials including but not limited to transcript requests, student employment verifications, and student work permits for the purpose of disseminating information to appropriate parties.
- Assists in budget planning and order processing.
- Utilizes PowerSchool to run specific reports (such as honor roll & GPA), build student transcripts, and assist with grade reporting.
- Interacts with PowerSchool, NCAA, and SCOIR for student information and college application purposes.
- Provides a variety of documents such as transcripts, ACT/SAT scores, college applications, etc. for the purpose of assisting present and former students and/or parents, caregivers, etc.
- Responds to questions from a variety of internal and external sources (staff, other educational institutions, the public, parents and/or students, etc.) for the purpose of providing information or direction.
- Coordinates schedules for school counseling programming including college visits and school counseling curriculum schedules.
- Supports in coordinating Awards Night programming.
- Performs all duties necessary to maintain the proper operation of the School Counseling Department.
- Performs all other duties as determined by the Director of School Counseling and administration.
Preferred:
- Experience with PowerSchool, or other Student Information Systems, SCOIR, Microsoft Office (especially Excel), and MUNIS is preferred but not required
- Exhibits the values of Shrewsbury Public Schools
- Works flexibly in a changing environment
