The Department of Early Childhood, Elementary Education, Middle Grades, Reading, and Special Education at Fayetteville State University is dedicated to preparing dynamic, knowledgeable, caring, and reflective teachers and leaders who are committed to facilitating learning for all children in 21st-century schools. This mission is fulfilled through undergraduate, graduate, and licensure programs that integrate research-based instruction, collaboration, partnerships, and continuous professional development. Graduates of the department, guided by highly qualified faculty, acquire the knowledge, skills, and dispositions necessary to support student learning within the broader context of family and community. They are well equipped to contribute meaningfully in diverse, technological, and global societies. The department offers programs leading to the Bachelor of Science degree and initial licensure in Elementary Education, Birth through Kindergarten, and Middle Grades Education, as well as advanced degrees, including the Master of Arts in Teaching and the Master of Education in Elementary Education, Reading, Middle Grades, and Special Education. Additionally, a fully online Bachelor of Science degree in Birth through Kindergarten (non-teaching) is available. The department's mission aligns with that of the College of Education and is achieved through a commitment to excellence in teaching, collaboration, and ongoing professional growth. These efforts produce dedicated learning facilitators who are passionate about educating and empowering all children. Primary Purpose of the
Position:
The Administrative Support Associate provides essential administrative and clerical support to the Department Chair of the Department of Early Childhood, Elementary Education, Middle Grades, Reading, and Special Education. The position ensures efficient daily operations, supports faculty and students, assists with data and reporting tasks, and helps advance the department's mission to prepare effective and reflective educators.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalency; or demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work.
Knowledge skills and abilities:
Communication-Verbal:
Ability to convey information and ideas through a variety of media to individuals or groups; ability to adjust language or terminology to meet the needs of the recipient(s)
Communication-Written:
Ability to present ideas in written form; ability to adjust language or terminology to meet the needs of the recipient(s); ability to use correct grammar, organization, and structure
Office Technology:
Ability to utilize office equipment and other relevant technology (software and systems) to meet work needs
Work Coordination:
Ability to facilitate the flow of work, facilitate or direct the office support activities, and coordinate work with staff; ability to maintain internal and external contacts for work coordination.
Problem Solving:
Ability to understand issues, identify problems, and opportunities to determine the appropriate course of action.
Knowledge-Program:
Ability to demonstrate an understanding and awareness of program services, policies, and procedures; ability to demonstrate and apply this knowledge in the performance of office support tasks; ability to explain and interpret program information to clients/customers and staff.
Information/Records Administration Budgeting:
Ability to apply knowledge of data collection and storage to compile, assimilate, and organize printed and electronic information Plans and monitors the use of expenditures to meet organizational objectives and compliance; prepares budget documents and reports.
