Standard Internship $ Paid Part Time Description The Culinary Business & Administration Internship at Soulful Kitchen Culinary Program is an 8-week opportunity for hospitality management or business students to gain hands on experience in the administrative side of a culinary business. Interns will work closely with our Operations Manager and administrative staff, learning to track inventory, communicate with vendors, assist with cost analysis, manage staff and schedules, and operating procedures. This internship emphasizes both computer-based and organizational skills, giving students practical experience in office systems, workflow management, and financial tracking within a real-world food business. Interns receive mentorship, weekly guidance, and the opportunity to earn a certificate of completion, a letter of recommendation, and a potential pathway to employment.
Responsibilities Intern Tasks & Projects Inventory & Vendor Management:
Track inventory in digital systems, analyze ingredient usage, and help source vendors.
Cost Analysis & Financial Projects:
Assist with budgeting, food costing, and menu pricing calculations.
Operational Systems:
Document and improve standard operating procedures (SOPs) for kitchen and catering operations.
Scheduling & Workflow:
Support scheduling of classes, events, and staff using software tools.
Reporting & Analytics:
Generate reports on inventory, costs, and event performance to inform management decisions.
Mini Projects:
Create templates, guides, or digital tracking tools that improve efficiency and organization. Qualifications Currently enrolled in (or recently graduated from) a hospitality management, culinary, or business program Strong interest in culinary business operations and administration Comfortable working with computers, spreadsheets, and digital tools Organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple small projects No prior management experience required; this is designed to be their first professional experience in the field Good communication skills and willingness to learn from mentorship Learning Objectives The Culinary Business & Administration Internship at Soulful Kitchen Culinary Program could be summarized bythe following learning objectives: Develop administrative and business management skills within a culinary and hospitality environment. Gain hands-on experience with inventory management, including tracking supplies and monitoring stock levels. Learn vendor communication and relationship management by working with suppliers and coordinating business needs. Understand cost analysis and financial tracking to support operational decision-making and budget management. Build scheduling and workforce management skills through assisting with staff and class scheduling. Learn to maintain and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) to support efficient business operations. Strengthen computer, office, and organizational skills through the use of administrative systems and workflow tools. Gain practical experience in culinary business operations by working alongside experienced operations and administrative professionals.
