MANAGER / BUSINESS SERVICES / COLLEGE OF LIBERAL ARTS & SOCIAL SCIENCES
Position Summary The manager of business services is responsible for the planning, coordination, and oversight of the financial and business operations of the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences ( CLASS ). This position provides leadership and accountability in resource management, including financial analysis and planning, budget management, and personnel transaction administration for the college. The business services manager serves as the financial advisor to the dean and as the building coordinator for the college. As a member of the CLASS leadership team, this position also assumes responsibility for special projects related to the college's financial and business operations as directed by the dean. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree, preferably in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related field, or a combination of education and experience that equates to four years. Three years of professional experience in accounting, fiscal planning, or a related field. Demonstrated experience with SAP or a comparable enterprise resource planning ( ERP ) system. Ability to understand and perform accounting functions, statistical analysis, and financial projections. Demonstrated proficiency with spreadsheets, databases, and standard office productivity software. Demonstrated organizational skills and strong attention to detail. Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise independent judgment. Demonstrated problem-solving and critical-thinking skills. Demonstrated positive interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field. Five years of related professional experience. Demonstrated experience with various software, systems, and business processes (e.g., SAP Financial Management & Controlling, Data Warehouse, Cayuse). Demonstrated experience with grant administration and grant accounting. Demonstrated experience with university budget models. Duties & Responsibilities Creates, oversees, and reports on the college budget, including general, designated, grant, endowment, and gift accounts. Prepares and analyzes financial statements, revenue and expense statements, and internal budgets for the dean and department chairs/directors. Provides financial forecasting, projections, and data to support college financial planning. Develops budget recommendations and student credit hour ( SCH ) projections. Develops and maintains budget-tracking tools and provides related guidance to department chairs, directors, and staff. Designs and implements business plans and strategies to support the college's financial goals; evaluates program performance through data analysis. Reviews and approves personnel transactions for college faculty, staff, and graduate assistants. Designs, maintains, and administers faculty personnel consideration workflows and templates. Reviews and approves college expenditures and oversees reconciliation of college accounts. Oversees the college's payroll. Provides oversight, reporting, and compliance review for grants and contracts. Provides budgetary oversight and reporting for CLASS centers and new development projects. Serves as the building coordinator for the college and liaison to Facilities Management. Serves as the financial advisor to the dean and as a member of the CLASS leadership team. Serves as the liaison to Human Resources, Faculty Personnel Services, Financial Planning & Budgets, and other university offices on budgetary, personnel, and business matters. Ensures fiscal compliance with university policies and applicable contractual agreements; serves as the college's point of contact for internal and external audits. Represents the college on university committees and task forces as directed by the dean. Performs detailed financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and account reconciliation with a high degree of accuracy. Meets recurring and time-sensitive financial reporting deadlines. Maintains the confidentiality of sensitive financial, personnel, and salary information. Communicates financial information clearly to administrators, faculty, and staff with varying levels of financial expertise. Performs other duties as assigned. Supervision Exercised None.
