Job Description
THE POSITION
Under general direction, plans, prioritizes, assigns, and supervises the public permit processing center activities and staff, emphasizing consistency in service delivery and excellent customer service; organizes, assigns, and reviews the work of assigned staff engaged in providing information and direction to the public on related planning, building, land development and permitting services; monitors process steps to support service deliverables and timelines; provides process recommendations to maintain quality services and efficient operations; and performs special projects or other work as required. Pending salary adjustment in July. The following typical tasks and responsibilities are representative of this class. They are descriptive, not limiting. Essential Duties :
Supervises staff by assisting with training, planning, assigning, and reviewing work; Responds to inquiries and makes final decisions regarding difficult customer complaints requiring a thorough knowledge of rules, practices, and policies; Coordinates permit services activities with other City departments, divisions, and sections, and with outside agencies; Oversees the acceptance, review, and processing of complex building, land use, and right-of-way permit applications for compliance with codes, regulations, and city requirements; Provides technical expertise and guidance to staff, applicants, and the public regarding permit processes, requirements, and timelines; Monitors compliance with applicable building codes, zoning codes, ordinances, and internal policies. application, resume, & supplemental questionnaire that they meet the below requirements: Graduation from an accredited college or university with an associate's degree in business or public administration or related field; AND Three (3) years of progressively responsible administrative or program technical experience in related field, which include one (1) year of lead work or supervisory experience; OR An equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the capabilities to perform the described job duties. Must successfully complete required pre-employment background investigation. HIGHLY DESIRABLE
