Administrative Tearoom Supervisor Britannia Tearooms -
San Diego, CA Hours:
32 hours/week
Schedule:
Monday - Friday 10 am to 5pm. Occassionally, we will expect help on weekends, and this position would need to cover weekend shifts when the GM is on vacation or when there are large special events scheduled (i.e. Valentine's, Mother's Day, Memorial weekend, or New Year's Eve). The Britannia Tearooms—home of San Diego's best afternoon tea—is seeking an experienced Administrative Tearoom Supervisor to help assist management with tearoom and facilitate different administrative tasks. This is a hands-on supervisory role , not a management position. You'll lead by example while supporting daily operations behind the scenes with the full support of the GM and Owner. Compensation $20/hour Share in the tip pool on top of base pay - on average an extra $5-8 per hour Consistent hours
Daily Responsibilities:
Confirm reservations, check tables are correctly assigned to each dining room for guest comfort and flow of service. Organize what teas need to be filled. Blend teas & print tea labels. Helping customers with Mad Hatter private party rentals, send out Private Room Rental agreements (contracts). Assist with taking catering orders. Check diary & "spike" every day for notes and urgent tasks. Organize, clean & stock shop. Help with processing orders received, input orders into POS & put product on shelf with price. Shop product displays.
Service Responsibilities:
Greet guests, manage reservations, answer phones, assist with gift shop purchases & operate the till. Help handle customer complaints and customer inquiries, answer staff questions & organize/direct staff. Blend, brew and serve teas from our extensive selection; prepare iced teas and restock supplies Create Monthly Allergen lists & kitchen guides for new menus. Help price out menu items (cost to make food, find best prices for inventory needed for monthly menu, etc). Decorate for Theme teas, check gifts are organized, quiz sheets, event lists & coupons are printed, etc.
Supervisor Responsibilities:
Oversee the dining room during service and ensure smooth floor operations Delegate tasks and keep servers productively engaged Ensure breaks are taken on time. Note areas that need to be cleaned on Thursdays (when we are closed) and ensure cleaning staff has jobs completed by end of shift. Administrative Duties Keep track of food safety certificates & notify staff when their food handler cards are expiring. Order food and supplies Add new inventory to Toast for sales tracking What We're Looking For Minimum 2 years of Administrative experience Minimum 2 years hospitality experience Strong leadership, communication, and customer service skills Comfortable in a fast-paced environment Comfortable talking on the phone Basic math skills (cash handling, register reconciliation) Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 25 lbs Food Handler Card (required) Why You'll Love Working Here Unique, elegant work environment Supportive, upbeat, tea-loving team Leadership role while still earning tips.
