Our client is a respected financial institution committed to providing exceptional service to its members and maintaining a strong lending portfolio. They are seeking a Collection Specialist to support loan recovery efforts while delivering professional and member-focused service.
Job Description:
The Collection Specialist is responsible for managing delinquent loan accounts, working directly with borrowers to establish repayment solutions, and helping reduce financial losses through effective collection and recovery strategies. This position requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and knowledge of collections practices and regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
Contact borrowers regarding past-due accounts through phone, email, and written correspondence. Develop and negotiate repayment arrangements to help members bring accounts current. Analyze delinquent accounts and evaluate borrower financial circumstances to determine appropriate resolution strategies. Recommend recovery actions, including collateral repossession or legal escalation, when necessary. Maintain detailed and accurate documentation of all account activity and collection efforts. Follow established collection procedures while ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations. Monitor portfolio trends and communicate potential lending or underwriting concerns to management. Provide professional customer service while handling sensitive financial situations. Support departmental initiatives and complete additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
2-5 years of collections, loan servicing, or related financial services experience. Understanding of collection regulations and industry best practices. High school diploma or GED required. Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and other business software applications. Strong interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict-resolution skills. Ability to manage confidential information with professionalism and discretion. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
