Job Description

NorthPoint Health and Wellness Center is seeking a Credit Collections Representative to partner with patients, collection agencies, and insurance companies to secure payment for healthcare services provided. Location and hours:
This position is hybrid and will be performed both on-site at the NorthPoint Health & Wellness Center at 2220 Plymouth Avenue North, Minneapolis, MN 55411, and remote as job duties require. Work hours will be Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. While this position is designated as hybrid, based on current requirements hires must reside in or relocate to Minnesota or Wisconsin. New Employee Orientation (NEO) for all new benefit-earning employees is in-person in downtown Minneapolis. Details about NEO will be provided upon hire. About the position type : This is a full-time, benefit-earning position. This position is internally classified as a Credit Collections Representative. In this position, you will: Interview patients/clients, family members, employers, governmental units, and/or medical payment programs, in person or by phone; gather/update patient information; complete appropriate forms; determine financial responsibility and/or identify sources of payment for services rendered. Respond to customer inquiries from incoming calls and correspondence; deliver an explanation of patient account inquiries and resolve issues related to patient accounts. Work with patients/clients to establish standard payment arrangements or assist in arranging acceptable payment plans. Review patient/client accounts to verify financial resources and initiate actions to establish payor funding sources and maintain accurate patient/client records. Maintain and build relationships with payors such as health maintenance organizations and collection agencies and with patients who are awaiting coverage from medical assistance or other public programs. Address patient issues that ensure the best long-term and short-term solutions. Post medical/dental patient account payments and adjustments, process account transactions, and resolve billing problems using Epic and Dentrix computerized billing software.
Need to have:
Two or more years of clerical experience involving the obtaining and evaluating of financial or closely related information.
Nice to have:
Ability to communicate fluently in Spanish, in addition to English, both verbally and in writing.
Experience:
With financial counseling with delinquent patient accounts for dental services. Working with dental billing systems and/or electronic medical records systems. Using various computer programs such as Microsoft Office, Epic, and Wisdom.
Ability to:
Communicate and respond to inquiries; requiring effective interpersonal skills and ability to interact with patients to explain payment policies and persuade patients to settle account balances. Work independently with minimal supervision within a team setting and be supportive of team members. Analyze issues and make judgments about appropriate steps toward solutions. Knowledge of government assistance programs, guidelines, and application procedures. Familiarity with statutes and regulations that impact collection of past-due accounts. Effective customer service and written and verbal communication skills. Organizational skills and the ability to prioritize and manage tasks based on established criteria. Candidates with fluency in another language(s) in addition to English are encouraged to apply. Bilingual candidates who pass a language assessment may qualify for additional bilingual pay and duties.
