Job Description

Job Description Summary:
The Billing Clerk is responsible for the billing and collections of ProHealth Home Health and Hospice. The position works closely with the Corporate and regional accounts receivable team. The duties include but are not limited to: accurate and timely completion and submission of the billing, collections, and management of the computer information system for billing of Home Health Medicare, Medicaid, Commercial Insurance, and other third-party payers both electronically and/or on paper.
Responsibilities:
Bills private pay statements to patients prior to the beginning of each month. Inputs data into accounts receivable system. Bills private insurances to relevant insurances Reconciles payments with Accounts Receivable Balances Follows up on Private insurance billing to ensure current payment. Works closely with Benefit/Authorization Department Ensure claims are completed accurately Verification of Insurance coverages if needed Send insurance follow up information or updates as required by each insurance company Understands and complies with specific insurance company requirements to ensure collections of insurance claims. Ensures data in the Accounts receivable system is accurate Complies operational statistics and reports as directed Maintains appropriate accounting data via spreadsheets Performs various routine clerical duties including word processing, answering phones, filing, photocopying, sorting, and distributing mail. Performs other job-related duties as requested. Ensure office supplies are properly stocked. Makes daily/weekly orders as appropriate with proper approvals. Maintains office equipment (postage machine, copier, phone systems).

Experience:
Previous experience in Home Health and Hospice billing is a plus.
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to walk, sit, stoop and stand intermittently throughout the workday. Must be able to work with hands and fingers throughout the workday.
