Job Description
Position Summary The Billing Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the billing department, ensuring accurate and timely billing processes, supporting the billing team, and maintaining compliance with company policies and healthcare billing standards. Essential Responsibilities Leadership & Team Management Supervise and support the Billing Specialist team by providing guidance, training, and problem resolution. Conduct regular check-ins with Billing Specialists to monitor workload, performance, and account status. Serve as the primary resource for billing questions and escalated issues. Approve employee timecards and monitor departmental productivity. Promote compliance with company policies and required training. Billing Operations Oversee monthly facility billing and invoice generation. Manage patient statement processing and monthly statement distribution. Review facility billing for accuracy prior to month-end invoice generation. Monitor pre-billing verification processes to ensure billing accuracy. Financial Reporting & Reconciliation Generate and review monthly aging reports and maintain aging summaries. Oversee payment reconciliations across multiple business lines. Review various reports and identify billing discrepancies. Process write-offs, adjustments, refunds, and other account corrections. Systems & Process Management Maintain billing system data, including insurance codes and facility setup. Ensure billing systems remain accurate and up to date. Coordinate office and mailing supply inventory and vendor support for billing operations. Identify opportunities to improve billing workflows and departmental efficiency. Compliance & Customer Support Ensure compliance with healthcare billing regulations and company policies. Respond to escalated customer, facility, and internal billing inquiries. Process release of information requests in accordance with applicable regulations. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, Healthcare Administration, or a related field preferred. Three or more years of medical billing experience, with previous leadership or supervisory experience preferred. Strong knowledge of medical billing, insurance reimbursement, accounts receivable, and aging management. Experience with NetSuite, Sage, Frameworks, or similar billing systems preferred. Advanced Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office skills. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail. Ability to prioritize multiple projects while meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Preferred Skills Supervisory or team lead experience. Healthcare billing experience in Assisted Living, Long-Term Care, Correctional facilities. Experience with process improvement and workflow management. Strong customer service and conflict-resolution skills.
