Position Summary:
As a Billing Specialist II , you are a "one biller" for a defined set of accounts, payors or markets. Instead of handling just one step like Specialist I, you are responsible for the full Billing cycle for your assigned work
  • from checking inputs to submitting claims and handling standard responses from payors and other RCM functions.
You are a key driver of clean claims and stable queues for your area and you help prevent repeat issues by learning from denials and feedback coming from Insurance Relations and Patient Experience.

In this role you will: Own the full Billing flow for your assigned work: from documentation and data checks, through preparing and billing the claim, to handling the typical responses (e.g. simple rejections, requests for more information). Use payer‑specific rules and internal guidelines to select the correct way to bill 911 and IFT trips. Work your queues in Logis and portals so they are kept under control and do not turn into backlog. Receive and review denial and feedback patterns coming from the Insurance Relations team and PatientExperience , and adjust how you work so the same mistake is not repeated. Support Billing Specialist I colleagues by answering questions on your area when needed.
Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactory. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or ability required. The individual in this position must possess the following qualifications: Typically have 1-2+ years of experience in Ambulance Billing/RCM or similar healthcare billing work. Are ready to move from "one step" work into owning full claims for your portion of the business. Are comfortable working with payer rules, basic coding inputs and portals. Take ownership
  • you like following a claim from start to finish and ensuring it is handled correctly.
Want a clear path to grow into Billing Specialist III and, longer term, roles like Billing Auditor or Billing Lead .
