This entry-level position is ideal for recent graduates of medical billing and coding programs who are looking to start their career in healthcare administration. The Medical Billing Entry Clerk will assist with daily billing operations, insurance claim processing, patient communication, and administrative support while gaining valuable experience in revenue cycle management. This role offers an excellent opportunity to develop practical knowledge of medical billing systems, insurance processes, medical records management, and patient account services within a supportive team environment. Responsibilities Scan and process patient charge tickets and billing documents according to established schedules. Monitor billing inboxes and respond to patient billing inquiries in a professional and timely manner. Review incoming emails daily and route communications to the appropriate team members. Assist with processing insurance payments, EFT enrollments, and payment-related correspondence. Sort, stamp, and distribute incoming mail, including insurance correspondence and patient payments. Review charge-related questions and assist the billing team with claim corrections and updates. Process and route medical records requests to the appropriate department or team member. Answer incoming phone calls and assist patients with basic billing questions or direct calls appropriately. Check voicemail messages and return calls or forward messages to the appropriate staff member. Assist with secondary insurance billing and claim follow-up. Monitor provider schedules and billing-related work queues as assigned. Maintain payer portal access and verify login credentials as needed. Accurately enter patient demographic, insurance, and billing information into practice management and electronic medical record (EMR) systems. Support the billing department with administrative projects and daily operational tasks. Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations. Requirements High school diploma or equivalent required. Completion of a Medical Billing, Medical Coding, Healthcare Administration, or related program preferred. Recent graduates are encouraged to apply. Basic understanding of medical terminology, insurance plans, and healthcare office procedures. Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications and data entry. Ability to learn EMR, EHR, and medical billing software systems. Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Customer service experience is a plus.
