Job Description
Position Summary We are seeking a detail-oriented, organized, and dependable Payment Poster/Billing Assistant to join our chiropractic office. You will be assisting the Billing Manager with tasks needed to support the daily billing and administrative functions of the practice, with a primary focus on payment posting, processing denials, claim follow-up, pre-authorization, and maintaining accurate billing records.insurance claims, patient accounts, The ideal candidate has strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and an understanding of medical or chiropractic billing procedures. Experience with insurance companies, electronic claims submission, and practice management software is highly preferred. Key Responsibilities Prepare and submit accurate insurance claims for chiropractic services. Verify patient insurance eligibility, benefits, and coverage when needed. Review claims for accuracy and completeness prior to submission. Post insurance payments, patient payments, adjustments, and denials accurately. Monitor outstanding claims and follow up with insurance companies regarding unpaid, pending, or denied claims. Research and resolve claim denials, rejections, and billing discrepancies. Maintain accurate patient account balances and billing records. Assist with patient billing inquiries and explain account balances, insurance payments, and outstanding responsibilities in a professional and courteous manner. Prepare patient statements and assist with payment arrangements when appropriate. Review Explanation of Benefits (EOBs) and Electronic Remittance Advices (ERAs). Maintain organized documentation related to insurance claims and patient accounts. Communicate with insurance carriers, patients, attorneys, and other third parties as necessary. Assist with accounts receivable follow-up and collection activities. Ensure billing procedures comply with applicable insurance requirements and office policies. Protect patient confidentiality and maintain compliance with HIPAA regulations. Assist the front office with administrative duties as needed. Work collaboratively with chiropractors, providers, and administrative staff to resolve billing and account issues. Perform other billing and administrative duties as assigned. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required. Previous experience in medical, chiropractic, or healthcare billing preferred. Familiarity with health insurance terminology, claims processing, EOBs, deductibles, copayments, and coinsurance. Experience with electronic claims submission and insurance portals preferred. Knowledge of chiropractic CPT/diagnostic coding and billing practices is a plus. Strong computer skills and ability to learn practice management and electronic health record systems. Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to handle confidential patient information professionally. Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines. Must be teachable and open to learning new ways to do things. Can-do attitude. The Billing Assistant will work closely with the billing and front-office teams and will interact regularly with patients, insurance representatives, and healthcare staff.
