Responsibilities Assign appropriate CPT (Current Procedural Terminology) codes for medical procedures and services to ensure precise billing. Utilize ICD-9 and ICD-10 (International Classification of Diseases) coding systems to accurately document diagnoses and conditions. Review medical records and documentation to verify coding accuracy and completeness. Prepare and submit claims using Electronic Medical Record (EMR) or Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems, ensuring compliance with insurance requirements. Follow up on unpaid or denied claims through medical collection processes, working diligently to resolve discrepancies. Maintain detailed records of billing activities, coding updates, and correspondence with insurance companies. Stay current with regulatory changes related to DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group), ICD coding updates, and billing guidelines to ensure compliance. Skills Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology to accurately interpret clinical documentation. Proficiency in medical billing software, EMR systems, and EHR platforms for efficient claim processing. Expertise in DRG classification, CPT coding, ICD-9, ICD-10 coding systems, and medical records management. Excellent attention to detail with a focus on accuracy in coding and billing procedures. Ability to interpret complex medical documentation and communicate effectively with healthcare providers and insurance representatives. Familiarity with medical collection practices and resolving billing disputes professionally. Understanding of healthcare regulations, privacy laws, and compliance standards related to medical coding and billing.
