Job Overview We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Ophthalmology Billing Specialist to join our healthcare team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for managing the billing processes specific to ophthalmology services, ensuring accurate and timely reimbursement from insurance providers and patients. Your expertise will help streamline financial workflows, improve revenue cycle management, and support our commitment to delivering exceptional patient care. The ideal candidate is energetic, highly organized, and possesses a strong understanding of medical coding and billing procedures within ophthalmology practices. Duties Review ophthalmology clinical documentation to accurately assign CPT (Current Procedural Terminology) codes, DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group), ICD-9, and ICD-10 codes for procedures and diagnoses Prepare and submit claims using Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems, ensuring compliance with insurance requirements Follow up on unpaid or denied claims through effective medical collection strategies, including resubmission and appeals Verify patient insurance coverage, benefits, and eligibility prior to billing processes Maintain detailed medical records and billing documentation in accordance with healthcare regulations Collaborate with medical office staff to resolve billing discrepancies or coding issues promptly Stay updated on changes in medical coding standards, insurance policies, and healthcare regulations affecting ophthalmology billing practices Skills Strong knowledge of medical terminology specific to ophthalmology procedures and diagnoses Proficiency in CPT coding, ICD-9, ICD-10 coding, DRG classifications, and medical coding best practices Experience with medical billing systems, EMR/EHR platforms, and claim submission processes Ability to interpret medical records accurately for proper coding and billing purposes Excellent communication skills for interacting with insurance companies, patients, and healthcare providers Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills to manage multiple claims simultaneously Knowledge of healthcare regulations related to medical records management and privacy standards Join our team as an Ophthalmology Billing Specialist to play a crucial role in optimizing our revenue cycle while supporting the delivery of outstanding eye care services.
