The City of Grandview is looking for a detail-driven, customer-focused Billing Collection Assistant to support our Finance team. This position sits at the intersection of public service and financial accuracy: you'll handle payments, assist residents, and keep critical revenue processes running cleanly and efficiently. This is a front-line finance position where accuracy, accountability, and judgment matter. If you're early in your finance career—or pivoting into it—and want real exposure to revenue operations in a municipal environment, this is a strong entry point. This role gives you something most part-time jobs don't: credible, resume-building finance experience with real accountability. What You'll Own You'll support core revenue functions that directly impact City operations: Process and reconcile tax and service payments with precision Serve as a point of contact for residents with billing inquiries—translating policy into clear, professional communication Maintain accurate financial records and transaction documentation Balance and audit daily cash activity (no discrepancies, no excuses) Support licensing and fee-based service billing across departments Identify inconsistencies and escalate issues before they become problems Why This Role Is Different You'll gain: Exposure to public sector finance operations Experience handling real revenue streams—not theoretical models Direct interaction with stakeholders (which builds judgment fast) A foundation that translates into accounting, audit, or financial analysis paths What You Bring 6-12 months experience in cash handling, billing, banking, AR/AP, or customer-facing financial roles Close attention to detail and personal accountability (you catch errors before they compound) Strong communication skills—clear, composed, and professional under pressure Comfort working with structured processes and financial systems An associate's degree or coursework in Accounting, Finance, or Business is a plus Who You Are You don't let numbers slide You prefer being trusted with responsibility over being micromanaged You handle difficult conversations without losing composure You're looking for a stepping stone into finance—not just a job Work Environment Professional office setting Structured workflows with defined accountability Occasional high-volume or high-pressure interactions with the public Position Requirements Must be able to pass a criminal background check (including fingerprints) Must be current on all Personal Property and Income Taxes Must be able to prove legal registration for all owned vehicles (yourself and spouse if applicable) Must have a valid Missouri Driver's License or I.D. and be a Missouri resident Job Responsibilities Handle all Jackson County Personal Property Tax and Real Property Tax transactions Balance drawer at end of shift; perform daily close out of self and other clerks from the County Tax System All other duties as assigned Pay & Benefits $17.50 per hour. New employees earn two weeks of Paid Time Off during their first year. Schedule v aries week to week; could be a mix of shifts; incumbent needs to be open to all possibilities. The License Office is open M/T/Th/F 8am-5pm, W 8am-7pm, and Saturdays 8am-12pm. Looking for friendly people who are able to work part-time hours around 20 hours per week including Wednesday evenings and Saturday mornings.
