The ideal candidate will possess a comprehensive understanding of medical billing processes, coding systems, and insurance procedures. As a Medical Billing Specialist, you will be responsible for accurately processing claims, managing accounts receivable, and ensuring timely reimbursement. Your expertise in medical coding, medical records management, and familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems will be essential to maintaining efficient billing operations and supporting the financial health of our healthcare facility. Duties Review and verify patient medical records to ensure accuracy and completeness for billing purposes. Assign appropriate diagnosis codes using ICD-9 and ICD-10 coding systems to classify medical conditions accurately. Utilize CPT (Current Procedural Terminology) codes classifications to process claims efficiently. Submit insurance claims electronically through EMR (Electronic Medical Records) and EHR (Electronic Health Record) systems while adhering to payer-specific guidelines. Follow up on unpaid or denied claims, initiating appeals or resubmissions as necessary to maximize reimbursement. Maintain detailed documentation of billing activities and correspondence related to medical collections. Stay current with changes in medical coding standards, insurance policies, and healthcare regulations to ensure compliance. Collaborate with healthcare providers and administrative staff to resolve billing discrepancies promptly, supporting smooth financial operations. Qualifications Proven experience in medical billing with a strong understanding of medical coding, including
ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT
coding, and DRG classifications. Knowledge of medical terminology, medical records management, and healthcare documentation standards. Familiarity with EMR and EHR systems used for billing and recordkeeping. Strong background in medical collection procedures and accounts receivable management. Excellent attention to detail with the ability to analyze complex medical information accurately. Effective communication skills for liaising with insurance companies, healthcare providers, and patients. Prior experience in a medical office environment is required; certification in medical billing or coding is preferred. Pay:
