Job Description

We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Billing Support Specialist to join our dynamic healthcare team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for ensuring accurate and timely processing of medical billing, coding, and collections. Your expertise will help streamline revenue cycle operations, support patient accounts, and maintain compliance with industry standards. Responsibilities:
Review and process medical claims using appropriate coding systems such as CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-9, ICD-10, and DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group) classifications to ensure accurate billing. Verify insurance coverage, benefits, and patient eligibility through EMR (Electronic Medical Records) and EHR (Electronic Health Records) systems. Handle medical collections by following up on unpaid claims, resolving discrepancies, and communicating effectively with insurance companies and patients. Maintain comprehensive medical records and documentation to support billing activities and ensure compliance with healthcare regulations. Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify coding details, review medical records for accuracy, and ensure proper documentation for billing purposes. Assist in resolving billing disputes or denials promptly while providing excellent customer service to patients and insurance representatives. Stay updated on industry standards related to medical terminology, coding practices, and billing regulations to ensure ongoing compliance.
Requirements:
Proven experience in medical billing with a strong understanding of medical terminology, coding (including
CPT, ICD-9, ICD-10
), and the revenue cycle process. Familiarity with DRG classifications and ICD coding conventions is highly desirable. Experience working with EMR/EHR systems and other medical office software platforms. Knowledge of medical records management and the ability to interpret clinical documentation for accurate coding. Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to multitask efficiently in a busy environment. Excellent communication skills for interacting with insurance companies, healthcare providers, and patients. Prior experience in medical collection processes is a plus but not required.
