Job Description

Overview We are seeking a detail-oriented and dedicated Medical Billing Assistant to join our healthcare administration team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of medical billing processes, coding systems, and insurance claims management. This role offers an opportunity to contribute to efficient revenue cycle operations by ensuring accurate billing, coding, and documentation. The Medical Billing Assistant will play a vital role in supporting healthcare providers and patients through precise financial and administrative support. Responsibilities Review and process medical claims using billing software, ensuring accuracy and completeness. Apply appropriate coding systems such as CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), to facilitate correct reimbursement. Manage medical records and documentation within Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems to support billing activities. Follow up on unpaid or denied claims through medical collection efforts, working with insurance companies and patients to resolve discrepancies. Maintain comprehensive knowledge of health insurance policies, coverage details, and healthcare claims management procedures. Utilize Microsoft Office tools for data entry, reporting, and record keeping related to billing processes. Provide excellent customer service by addressing patient inquiries regarding billing statements and payment options. Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, medical terminology standards, and privacy laws during all billing activities. Qualifications Prior experience in medical office administration or medical billing is highly preferred. Proficiency in medical coding classifications. Familiarity with billing software platforms and EMR/EHR systems used in healthcare settings. Strong knowledge of health insurance processes, healthcare claims management, and medical collections. Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail in handling medical records and billing documentation. Effective communication skills for interacting with patients, providers, and insurance representatives. Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office applications such as Word and Excel is required. Understanding of medical terminology and healthcare regulations enhances accuracy in billing procedures. $33,560.00 - $40,280.00 per year
