POSITION SUMMARY
The Billing Clerk is responsible for processing and managing billing activity for Bechtel Medical DME, including claims submission, follow-up, and reconciliation for Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial payers. This is a hybrid role requiring prior durable medical equipment billing experience preferably with experience in wound care and lymphedema billing and hands-on proficiency with NikoHealth. The ideal candidate brings a strong understanding of DME billing workflows and payer requirements, along with the accuracy and attention to detail needed keep claims moving efficiently.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Prepare, review, and submit claims to Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial payers in accordance with applicable billing guidelines. Monitor claims status, research denials and rejections, and resubmit or appeal as needed. Process payments, adjustments, and reconciliations in NikoHealth. Verify patient insurance eligibility and benefits prior to billing. Communicate with payers, patients, and internal teams to resolve billing discrepancies and outstanding balances. Maintain accurate and up-to-date billing records in compliance with HIPAA and company policy. Support month-end billing close processes and reporting as needed. Stay current on Medicare/Medicaid and DME billing regulation changes affecting claims processing.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Prior experience with Medicare/Medicaid and healthcare billing required. 3+ years prior experience billing for durable medical equipment (DME) required. Strong understanding of insurance claims processes, denials management, and reconciliation. High attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and documentation. Must reside within a commutable distance of 19460 to support the hybrid work schedule. High school diploma or equivalent required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Hands-on experience with NikoHealth and Availity preferred. Experience using Availity or comparable payer portal/clearinghouse systems. Familiarity with commercial payer billing in addition to Medicare/Medicaid.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Hybrid work environment, but must reside within a commutable distance to Phoenixville, PA 19460.
COMPENSATION
Hourly, non-exempt. $20.00 - $25.00 per hour commensurate with experience.
