Position Overview We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Medical Billing & Claims Specialist with strong experience in Athena EMR. This role is critical in ensuring accurate claims processing, timely reimbursement, and effective management of denials. Key Responsibilities Submit insurance claims accurately and in a timely manner Monitor and follow up on unpaid, denied, or rejected claims Review EOBs and identify discrepancies or trends Work claim edits, resubmissions, and appeals within Athena Communicate with insurance carriers regarding claim status Ensure compliance with billing and coding standards Collaborate with providers and administrative staff to resolve billing issues Qualifications Minimum 2 years of medical billing and claims experience Strong working knowledge of Athena (Athenahealth) required Solid understanding of CPT, ICD-10, and payer guidelines Experience managing denials, appeals, and claim follow-up Strong attention to detail and organizational skills Ability to work independently and maintain accountability Preferred Qualifications Experience in outpatient or specialty clinics Familiarity with telemedicine billing Compensation Based on experience
