Position Summary:
The Billing Supervisor is responsible for the accuracy of the claims prior to transmission to payer. Including verifying patient information, coding diagnoses, authorizations, procedures, and submitting claims to insurance companies and government programs. The ideal candidate will have strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and a thorough understanding of home health billing procedures.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The essential functions include, but are not limited to, the following: Reviewing client authorizations and working with the designated department when authorization issues arise Manage and follow up on claim escalation issues Managing and sending out weekly billing reports Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related tasks as needed Thoroughly reviewing and appealing unpaid denied claims Answering patients' billing questions Regularly checking on billing issue to proceed with claim submissions Respond and provide departments with accurate information and assistance as needed Maintaining accurate and up-to-date billing records Communicating with patients and insurance companies Checking claims daily for front end rejections and deficiencies Posting payments for primary insurances Verifying collection report and working denials on unpaid accounts or accounts with balances Verifying patient insurances Obtaining pre-authorization for primary insurances Entering patient data into the electronic billing system Producing and submitting claims to insurance companies Manage and track primary insurance copays and payments to ensure timely coverage and prevent lapses in patient treatment Experience in team management and leadership. Other duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities): High School Diploma - or the equivalent (GED) 3-5 years of experience in home health billing or related field (preferred) Valid Driver's License Excellent written and communication skills Home Health care experience preferred Knowledge of medical terminology, ICD-10, and CPT coding Knowledge in Electronic Verification Visits Proficiency in Microsoft Office and medical billing software (KanTime, Waystar) Ability to work independently and as part of a team Strong attention to detail and accuracy Strong knowledge in Medicaid guidelines and regulations Reliable transportation
