Job Description

The Billing & Taps Specialist role provides essential support to both customers and internal teams by managing administrative tasks and ensuring accurate information flow. This position handles inquiries related to water and sewer accounts and supports various operational departments with data accuracy and documentation. This position will track and bill back charges for items that were damaged due to the development of new areas that are still in the builder or developer's name. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Bill builders for repairs caused by construction crews and/or their contractors. Assist the Tap Department with processing new tap applications as needed. Process inspection requests as backup. Manage closed tap service orders and notify customers upon completion of tap installations. Update service details to ensure proper bill codes are set for new accounts. Monitor and track General Maintenance, Tap, and Leak Repair work orders for OYR (Operations Yearly Report). Conduct Texas 811 line locating as required for builder damages or for inflow & infiltration. Provide backup support for Customer Care telephone operations as needed Assist with additional projects assigned by the Billing Supervisor and Director of Customer Care. Key Performance Indicators Tap installations and customer contact within the SLA time frame Ensure SLA's are met for processing tap paperwork and installation of new taps Timely follow-up on certifications needed and received Qualifications Education & Experience High School Diploma or GED 2-3 years of experience in customer service Multitasks in a face-paced work environment Language/Math/Reasoning Ability Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of an organization. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent, and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Computer Skills Proficient personal computer skills, including electronic mail, record keeping, routine database activity, word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, etc. Physical Requirements Ability to see 20-20 when corrected. Light physical activity, performing non-strenuous daily activities of a clerical nature. Manual dexterity sufficient to reach/handle items and work with the fingers.
Sedentary physical activity:
performing non-strenuous daily activities of an administrative nature. Working Environment Well-lighted, heated, and/or air-conditioned indoor office setting with adequate ventilation. Moderate noise (examples: business office with computers and printers, light traffic).
