Job Description

Overview We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Customer Service/Billing Clerk to join our utility billing and customer service team. This role is vital in managing billing processes, ensuring accurate account reconciliation, and providing exceptional customer service. The ideal candidate will possess strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial software, and utility billing procedures, with the ability to handle complex data entry and account analysis. This position will also involve interaction with meter reading software, review of account usage, collections, customer account creation and public service commission report generation. Responsibilities Manage accounts receivable and accounts payable processes using utillity billing software and generation of reports. Prepare and review journal entries, perform account reconciliation, and analyze financial data to ensure accuracy and compliance with GAAP and SOX standards. Conduct data entry with high accuracy using 10 key typing skills and double entry bookkeeping methods. Process payments, perform credit analysis, and follow up on outstanding balances through negotiation and collection efforts. Maintain detailed records of financial transactions, perform analysis of accounts, and prepare reports for management review. Provide exceptional customer service by addressing client inquiries via phone or email with professional phone etiquette and problem-solving skills. Assist in government or non-profit accounting functions as needed, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations. • Experience Experience preferred in public utility accounting or corporate accounting environments with a focus on accounts receivable/payable, utility billing, or revenue cycle management. Familiarity with accounting software preferred. Knowledge or desire to acquire knowledge in use of software for meter reading, reporting, communication and customer service preferred. Strong understanding of financial concepts including debits & credits, journal entries, account reconciliation, and analysis skills. Demonstrated ability to perform data entry accurately while maintaining attention to detail. Excellent communication skills for effective negotiation and customer service interactions. Pay:
$13.00 - $17.00 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 per week
