Job Description This is a non-sworn, part-time position assigned to the Police Department working 25-30 hours per week with no fringe benefits. Under general supervision performs clerical and filing duties of moderate difficulty; performs data entry; types police reports; and performs related duties as required. Essential Job Duties Uses computer to perform data entry and data base searches; classifies and files reports and citations; transcribes police reports; reviews citations and other documents for accuracy; sorts and processes citations and necessary correction documents; places records in numerical order; acts as liaison with the courts regarding citation processing; answers telephones; operates various office equipment, including, but not limited to, computer, fax, photocopier, and shredder; and performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of :
Correct English usage, including punctuation and spelling; filing and record keeping methods; word processing/computer equipment; and general office practices and procedures. Skills/Abilities to : type 35 net WPM ; operate standard and specialized office and duplicating equipment; work cooperatively with others; determine and apply procedures for handling unique problems; work under established procedures and effectively perform detail-oriented work; work rapidly and accurately with names, numbers, codes, and symbols; exercise good judgment with a memory for details; and recognize and keep information confidential. The typing certificate must be from an accredited school or agency. Online certificates will not be accepted. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Graduation from high school or G.E.D. required . Previous experience in the above duties is highly desirable .
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting including use of standard office equipment, including a computer; to operate a motor vehicle; to visit various City sites; vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone. May be exposed to outside weather conditions, including heat, cold, wind, rain, and other conditions. Employees must possess the ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and objects up to 50 pounds.
