MRP System Technician / Data Entry Specialist Job Description The MRP System Technician / Data Entry Specialist maintains accurate and timely information within the company's Materials Requirements Planning (MRP) system and serves as a key communication hub between Engineering, Manufacturing, Order Entry, and Customer Service. This role ensures that projects, product data, and documentation move smoothly through the organization by auditing system records, coordinating engineering updates, processing sales orders and revisions, and upholding data integrity across all product lines. Responsibilities Enter, maintain, and audit data in the MRP system, including part numbers, Bills of Material (BOMs), and product configurations to ensure accuracy and completeness. Process engineering projects, sales orders, and basic drawing revisions, coordinating with drafters and engineers to ensure timely and correct completion. Liaise with Customer Service regarding custom parts, special customer requests, and product options, providing clear and accurate information as directed. Prepare, issue, and distribute print requests for manufacturing activities and sales order packages, ensuring all stakeholders receive correct documentation. Maintain part numbering systems, logs, and documentation standards, and assist with investigative or reference data work as required. Support Sales personnel by answering questions related to part numbers, unit design basics, special requests, and product documentation. Assist in organizing and maintaining Tech Services record‑keeping systems, including the Tech Services database, Engineering Change Order (ECO) process, and MRP procedural documentation. Help uphold standards for part descriptions, numbering conventions, and configuration consistency across all systems. Coordinate closely with cross‑functional teams in Engineering, Manufacturing, Order Entry, and Customer Service to support smooth project and order flow. Investigate and resolve data discrepancies in the MRP/ERP system, working proactively to maintain high data integrity. Manage multiple tasks, projects, and deadlines simultaneously while following established engineering and manufacturing documentation processes. Essential Skills Experience with MRP/ERP platforms such as SAP, Oracle, Epicor, NetSuite, Infor, or similar systems. Understanding of Bills of Material (BOM), part structures, and manufacturing workflows. Basic understanding of engineering drawings in 2D and 3D formats. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel, Outlook, and Word. Ability to learn and follow engineering and manufacturing documentation processes. Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy. Excellent communication skills and ability to coordinate effectively across departments. Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously in a fast‑paced environment. Problem‑solving mindset with a willingness to investigate and resolve discrepancies. Organized, process‑oriented approach with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. High school diploma or equivalent. 1-3 years of experience in an MRP/ERP, engineering data, or manufacturing support role preferred. Additional Skills & Qualifications Associate degree in Engineering Technology, Manufacturing Technology, or a related field preferred. Familiarity with Engineering Change Order (ECO) processes and product lifecycle management (PLM). Experience working in a manufacturing or engineering environment. Knowledge of part numbering systems and configuration control. Experience with Windows operating systems and general MS Office productivity tools. Background in order entry, order processing, or administrative support in a manufacturing or engineering setting. Experience with Oracle, NetSuite, or similar ERP platforms is a strong plus. Exposure to drafting, drawings, and inventory processes in a manufacturing industry context. Work Environment The role is primarily based in a climate‑controlled office setting at a computer workstation, with most work performed on MRP/ERP and related software tools. The position involves frequent collaboration with Engineering, Manufacturing, Order Entry, and Customer Service in a team‑oriented environment that values positive communication and cooperation. On occasion, duties may require work outside the office or in a warehouse setting, for example during as‑built studies or data verification activities. Typical shifts run either 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. or 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., providing consistent daytime hours. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $22.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
