The Prince George's County Police Department is currently seeking qualified applicants to fill various General Clerk ( General Clerk 4), grade P12 positions in the Records Management Division. •ROTATING SHIFTS
(DAYS, EVENINGAND MIDNIGHTS, HOLIDAYS & WEEKENDS
) About the Position This is a senior-level clerical position focused on managing police records and telephone reception. Under general supervision, the incumbent oversees the collection, maintenance, and disposal of sensitive data. Key responsibilities include training and leading subordinate staff, assigning daily tasks, and monitoring team performance. The employee serves as an acting supervisor when needed and must be available for shift rotations or reassignment to equivalent roles within the section. About the Agency The Prince George's County Police Department is the fourth largest law enforcement agency in Maryland, providing a full range of law enforcement services to County residents and business owners. Their mission is to work in partnership with citizens of Prince George's County towards providing a safe environment and enhancing the quality of life. Today, the Prince George's County Police Department serves over 900,000 residents and has an authorized strength of 1800 officers and 300 civilians. Responds to public records request and facilitates their dissemination to authorized parties. Acts as an information resource person for all individuals, both by telephone and in person. Files police records for access, retrieval, and disposal. Receives and disseminates information to appropriate personnel/locations using the electronic mail system. Ensures files are properly uploaded and maintained, expunged, and purged per county and state retention policy. Performs tasks and duties that may not be specifically listed in position description but are within the general occupational category and responsibility level typically associated with the employee's class of work willingly and cooperatively. Minimum Qualifications Candidates must meet all minimum qualifications listed below to be eligible for additional consideration: Must have experience at the General Clerk III level at the length of one (1) year. OR Six (6) months of experience performing diverse clerical tasks. One (1) year of education above the high school level which includes coursework in computer data entry, secretarial subjects or business administration. Upon selection, the candidate must: Possess and maintain a valid driver's license. Be willing to work a rotating shift consisting of days/evenings/midnights/weekends/holidays. Meet all training and performance standards and demonstrate proficiency as required by the agency. Wear and use agency protective apparel and equipment in the performance of their assigned duties. Successfully pass preemployment checks which may include reference checks, background investigations, and drug screenings. Be willing and able to serve as an essential employee. Essential employees are expected to report during standard or non-standard hours as operations necessitate, or during emergencies. Essential employees are expected to report or remain at work when other County employees are granted Administrative Leave.
