Job Description
Summit Medical Group has an immediate opening for an EMR Data Entry Specialist to join their corporate office to assist with the accurate entry of patient demographics and other pertinent data into the medical record. This is a full-time opportunity and is a hybrid position with some travel. Examples of Duties (List does not include all duties assigned) Ensures that patient demographic information, problem list, financial guarantor, insurance payor information, or other pertinent data is entered into the medical record accurately, efficiently, and as previously entered in the legacy system. Meets or exceeds departmental accuracy and productivity standards in order to ensure that the highest quality patient care is delivered to the patient at the time of service with minimal to no changes required. Reports any potential discrepancies noted within the patient's medical record or registration data to appropriate leadership. Maintains confidentiality of all protected patient health information by following State and Federal guidelines, HIPAA, and HITECH guidelines. Does not access portions of the medical records, unless explicitly advised to do so by leadership. Maintains ability to prioritize personal/ departmental work volume by ensuring that patient data is registered in an appropriate fashion (i.e., upcoming patient appointments are entered into Athena in order occurrence.) Adheres to the expectations of the established corporate compliance program. Utilizes time efficiently and minimizes unapproved overtime without leadership approval. Maintains strictest confidentiality both internally and externally. Adheres to expectations of the established corporate compliance plan. Actively participates in site-level Quality Improvement Activities. Each employee will contribute to the continual evaluation site performance as well as the implementation and measurement of improvement activities that increase the quality of care provided to patients. Performs other duties as assigned. Education Minimum of high school diploma or GED required. Experience Previous data entry experience or other related experience required. Prior experience in a patient registration or patient access position preferred.
