POSITION SUMMARY
Person in this position will be responsible for the intake and assessment of clients to determine the appropriate program and services they require. Essential Job Functions include those listed below.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Provide direct assessments and evaluations of clients to determine appropriate level of service required. Administer agency approved assessment instruments to individuals seeking treatment services. Complete induction packets and obtain all necessary documentation and verification of program eligibility. Coordinate the entry of clients into the program with all agency program components. Give presentations, speeches and seminars regarding WestCare's services as assigned. May be required to conduct assessments in jails and institutions. Responsible for answering verbal and written inquiries from prospective clients requesting program information. Coordinate transportation of new clients from various jail facilities to the agency. Preparation of necessary correspondence to referral sources regarding assessment outcome. Must Embrace and embody the mission, vision, guiding principles, clinical vision, and goals of WestCare Foundation; and Perform all other duties as assigned.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the duties and responsibilities satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Experience and Competencies:
Bilingual is preferred. Knowledge of the criminal justice system. Must meet all standards of the local licensing board. Must be sensitive to populations served. Knowledge of substance abuse and treatment is desired. Excellent communication skills. Ability to exercise good judgment and discretion. Ability to work well in a team environment. Adherence to the highest standard of ethical conduct, especially to standards governing confidentiality. Professional appearance and demeanor. Ability to obtain and maintain clearance from California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR). Ability to obtain and maintain clearance from LEIE, MSIL, and EPLS. Valid drivers license and ability to obtain and maintain WestCares vehicle insurance is required. Must be able to obtain and maintain Fresno County Credentialing. As mandated by the State of California those employees who work at Residential, Outpatient, Sober Living, provide Mental Health Services, Administrative Staff or Transitional Living Facilities must be fully vaccinated and have received a booster. Employees that have requested a Medical or Religious Exemption, which has been approved by Human Resources will be required to test for the virus weekly. During your tenure with WestCare there may be new requirements, including, but not limited to vaccinations that are issued by local, State, Federal, and/or Funders that WestCare may have to comply with. Should this occur Human Resources or appropriate personnel will inform you. CPR Certification, First Aid Certification, and an annual Tuberculosis test. EDUCATION and/or
EXPERIENCE
Two (2) years of experience in providing direct counseling services to persons with alcohol and/or drug problems is preferred. Intake and assessment experience is preferred. Marketing and/or sales experience preferred. Experience working with Drug Medi-Cal is preferred. Graduation from an accredited four-year college with a degree in Addiction Counseling, Criminal Justice, Social Work, Psychology, or related field is preferred. High School Diploma or equivalent and two (2) years of college-level education is required. Two (2) years of alcohol and other drug counseling experience may be substituted for one (1) year of college-level education. No more than one (1) year of college-level education may be substituted with alcohol and other drug counseling experience.
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION
Alcohol and Drug Registration and actively pursuing Certification, in good standing by an agency approved and recognized by the Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) is required at time of hire; Preference will be given to those candidates who are currently Certified.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Work is primarily performed in an office or in a residential/outpatient treatment setting; and Some outdoor activities may be required. UA testing of clients is required. Must be able to de-escalate situations in the program.
