Job Description

Job Summary Lighthouse Treatment, Inc. is seeking a professional and compassionate Intake Specialist to facilitate the admissions process and ensure a smooth transition into treatment. This role serves as the first point of contact for clients and referral sources. The Intake Specialist is responsible for coordinating evaluations, collecting required documentation, entering information into the EMR, and collaborating with clinical and medical teams to support appropriate placement decisions. Strong attention to detail, organization, and professionalism are essential. Essential Responsibilities Admissions Process Coordinate with medical and clinical teams for client evaluations and ASAM level-of-care determinations Facilitate client orientation, including program rules, expectations, and available resources Assist with transportation and logistics for admissions when necessary Support timely and organized admissions workflows Documentation & Compliance Ensure all admission documentation is completed accurately and in compliance with DHCS, DMC-ODS, CARF, and applicable regulations Enter client information into the electronic medical record (EMR) system in a timely manner Maintain strict adherence to HIPAA and confidentiality standards Ensure contract compliance regarding program occupancy Client & Family Interaction Provide compassionate support to clients and families during the admission process Answer questions and address concerns related to services and expectations Serve as a liaison between clients, families, and referral sources to ensure clear communication Collaboration Work closely with intake, clinical, and medical staff to coordinate admissions Communicate promptly with supervisors regarding barriers, delays, or special client needs Support census-building efforts and referral follow-up as needed Coordinate with outside agencies, including county and community partners Additional Responsibilities Interpret and adhere to Intake Department policies and procedures Assist with training programs as needed Participate on committees as required Support program activities, community events, and facility initiatives when necessary Qualifications Required Education & Experience High school diploma or equivalent required Minimum one (1) year experience in admissions, intake, or client services in behavioral health or substance use disorder treatment preferred Familiarity with ASAM Criteria and SUD admission processes strongly preferred Required Skills Strong communication, organizational, and customer service skills Ability to manage sensitive information with professionalism and discretion Proficiency with EMR systems and Microsoft Office Suite Preferred Associate or Bachelor's degree in Human Services, Psychology, or related field Registration with a DHCS-approved certifying agency for drug counselors/educators Knowledge of CARF standards and DHCS regulations Familiarity with 12-step, social, or medical models of recovery Work Environment This position operates in a structured healthcare setting requiring attention to detail, compliance awareness, and consistent interaction with clients, families, and interdisciplinary teams.
