Job Description

Description:
This on-site position is located in Georgetown, Delaware. Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Wilmington is seeking a Certifier who will be responsible for the accurate and efficient completion of the intake process for Heating and Crisis Services of the Low-Income Heating Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP). The schedule for this part-time position may vary Monday through Friday, between the hours of 8:30 am - 4:30 pm, up to 28 hours per week, and may require occasional availability outside of regular business hours, as needed.
Essential Functions:
Work with clients to explain the program services and application process, answer questions and provide clarification to determine the full needs of clients. Determine all sources of income, total number in the household, and calculate gross household income following regulations. Collect and verify all required documents based on program guidelines and verify with other sources to determine program eligibility. Ensure completeness of applications and determine preliminary eligibility of client. Address clients' complaints/concerns and, if necessary, provide explanation of reasons a client is not eligible for services. Document all activity in LIHEAP database system. Contact vendors to determine crisis need, fuel type, validity of vendor choice, etc. Create and maintain case records including case follow-up.
Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications:
High School diploma or equivalent and one year in a client facing role, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Demonstrated computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite and email applications. Strong problem-solving, attention to detail, and organizational skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Demonstrated aptitude for working with numbers. Ability to maintain confidential/sensitive information and data. Ability to build trust and rapport with individuals from diverse cultural, socio-economic, and ethnic backgrounds. Willingness to consent to a satisfactory criminal background check and drug screening in accordance with applicable laws. Commitment to the mission and values of Catholic Charities.

Day shift Monday to Friday No nights No weekends
