This position is responsible for accurately verifying patients' dental insurance benefits prior to their appointments and entering complete and accurate benefit information into our practice management software, Eaglesoft . This is a 3-4 day per week position , definite 4 days per week during the first few months of the year , when insurance verification volume is at its highest. Primary Responsibilities Verify dental insurance eligibility and benefits prior to patients' scheduled appointments. Contact insurance companies through online portals and/or by phone to obtain detailed benefit information. Verify coverage for specific dental procedures and ADA codes, including: Preventive and diagnostic Restorative Periodontal Endodontic Oral surgery Prosthodontic Other dental services Confirm important plan details, including: Annual maximums and remaining benefits Deductibles Coverage percentages Frequency limitations Waiting periods Missing tooth clauses Replacement limitations Age limitations Alternate benefits and downgrades History requirements Coordination of benefits Effective and termination dates Accurately enter insurance benefits, coverage percentages, frequencies, limitations, and other plan information into Eaglesoft. Review patients' insurance histories when necessary to determine eligibility for upcoming procedures. Identify discrepancies, missing information, or potential coverage issues and follow up with insurance companies as needed. Maintain organized and accurate insurance documentation within patient records. Communicate important insurance limitations, exclusions, or concerns to the front desk, treatment coordinator, and clinical team. Update insurance information when patients change plans or when benefits renew. Help ensure insurance information is verified in advance so accurate treatment estimates can be provided to patients. Maintain patient confidentiality and follow all HIPAA requirements. Qualifications Previous dental office experience required. Previous dental insurance verification experience strongly preferred. Strong understanding of dental terminology, ADA procedure codes, and dental insurance benefits. Experience with Eaglesoft preferred. Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to navigate multiple insurance portals and communicate effectively with insurance representatives. Excellent organizational and time-management skills. Ability to work independently while communicating effectively with the dental team. Reliable, efficient, and comfortable managing a high volume of insurance verifications. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to recognize when additional research or follow-up is needed. This person should be comfortable researching insurance benefits, asking the right questions, and making sure benefits are entered into Eaglesoft correctly and completely before the patient's visit.
