Shifts:

(BCRI) is a nationally recognized nonprofit and Baltimore's only comprehensive crisis response system. Since 1992, we've been at the forefront of behavioral health crisis care — providing timely, community-based services for individuals and families experiencing mental health and substance use challenges. The Opportunity We are seeking a Weekend Intake & Admissions Specialist to support the referral, screening, and admissions process for residential substance use disorder (SUD) treatment programs. In this role, you will serve as the primary point of contact for incoming referrals, conduct intake screenings, review referral information for program eligibility, and coordinate with clinical and nursing staff to ensure appropriate admissions. You will document all intake activity in the electronic health record, verify insurance information, communicate admission decisions to referral sources, and maintain timely, accurate records of all referrals and outcomes. You will collaborate with internal teams and external partners to support a smooth admissions process while ensuring professionalism, confidentiality, and compassionate communication with all stakeholders. What You'll Do Oversee and manage the referral process for SUD program during assigned shift Receive, track, and respond to referrals from hospitals, community providers, and internal programs Conduct intake screenings via phone with potential clients, referral sources, and care partners Review referrals against program criteria and identify need for nurse or clinical review Escalate cases appropriately based on medical, psychiatric, or safety concerns Communicate admission decisions and updates to referral sources in a timely and professional manner Complete registration and intake documentation in Credible Accurately document all outreach attempts, communications, and admission outcomes Verify insurance information as required for intake processing Serve as a liaison between internal teams and external partners to support coordination of care Support residential staff by facilitating timely and organized admissions to both CRU and Detox units Participate in shift handoffs and communicate outstanding referrals or pending items Adhere to all organizational policies, procedures, and professional standards Maintain confidentiality and demonstrate respectful, empathetic communication at all times Perform additional administrative or intake-related duties as assigned by the Admissions Manager, within the defined scope of the role Qualifications Qualifications High School Diploma or equivalent required Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred Experience Minimum of 2 years of experience working within behavioral health, healthcare, or public health systems preferred.
