Job Description

Living Innovations provides support to people with disabilities to have a good life at home and in the community Are you an outgoing personality? Do you think you have the ability to talk with business owners and convince them to give someone with an intellectual and/or developmental disability a chance at meaningful employment? Do you have a passion for helping members of the disabled community lead good lives at home and in their communities? If so, we want to hear from you! As an employment specialist for Living innovations, you will be responsible for supporting our mission, vision and values as stated within our policies and standards. You will be working and supporting adults with disabilities who are actively seeking meaningful employment opportunities based on their specific skill sets and aptitudes. You will also be expected to provide direct care and support to the individuals you are working with. This is a perfect role for someone who is looking to advance in his/her career. The person(s) selected for this full-time, hourly role will support the individuals we serve throughout Northern Maine.
QUALIFICATIONS
High School Diploma or equivalency. Employment Specialist Certification from an approved training program. At least one year of directly related work with a person with a disability is preferred. Valid state issued driver's license and proof of current vehicle insurance. DSP certification. Supervisory experience (preferred).
SKILLS:
Ability to make well-reasoned decisions, both independently and as part of a team. Ability to follow-through to meet employee, consumer, family, guardian and/or agency needs. Ability to use discretion in handling confidential information. Ability to manage multiple teams, tasks and projects. Ability to work collaboratively and effectively with individuals at all levels of the agency. Effective communication skills in English including speaking, reading, writing, listening, presentation, etc. Ability to utilize effective coping skills, such as flexibility in dealing with issues typical to a social service setting. Ability to resolve or facilitate the resolution of complex problems. Ability to meet job performance measures with minimal direct supervision and guidance. Knowledge of regulatory and legislative standards related to services provided by the agency.
