Business Office Specialist - Surgery Center - Full Time Be the First to Apply Job Description As a Business Office Specialist, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of the surgery center's administrative functions. Your responsibilities will include scheduling patient appointments, verifying insurance, managing patient accounts, and providing financial information. Additionally, you will assist patients with billing inquiries, arrange payment plans, and handle denials and refunds. This role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and excellent communication abilities to interact with patients, insurance companies, and colleagues. Responsibilities Timely scheduling of patient appointments and ensuring organized records. Verifying patient insurance information and understanding collection procedures. Entering client data accurately into the computer system. Providing financial information to patients and assisting with payment plans. Processing patient accounts to secure payments from third-party and patient pay accounts. Ensuring patient record accuracy and compliance with regulations. Handling denials, unresolved payments, and refunds efficiently. Assisting patients with billing inquiries and alternative payment options. Maintaining a professional and empathetic approach when dealing with sensitive information. Coordinating with other revenue cycle functions to maximize revenue collection. Qualifications High School Diploma is mandatory, with a preference for one or two years of college education. At least 2 years of hospital business office experience or a minimum of 3 years in the collection field. Knowledge of business office procedures, hospital policies, and third-party payor's collection processes. Excellent telephone communication skills and computer literacy. Working knowledge of basic medical terminology. Customer service-oriented with the ability to handle difficult interpersonal situations professionally. No specific certification, registration, or licensure is required. Ability to sit, stand, walk, stoop, and crouch for extended periods. Familiarity with office equipment like computer terminals, fax machines, printers, and copiers. Demonstrated competencies as outlined in the Assessment and Evaluation Tool.
