Job Description
Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Benefits and Eligibility Coordinator to join our healthcare support team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for managing patient eligibility, verifying insurance coverage, and ensuring accurate processing of benefits in accordance with Medicaid regulations and healthcare standards. Your expertise will help streamline patient access to services, support discharge planning, and maintain compliance with HIPAA and other confidentiality protocols. This position offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact on patient care and community health through efficient case management and client communication. Responsibilities Prepare, submit, and track applications for SNAP, Institutional Medicaid, Long- Term Care Medicaid, SSI/SSDI related documentation and support, and other public assistance programs as applicable. Coordinate with New Mexico Health Care Authority, Guardians, Care Facilities, Hospitals, and community/state agencies regarding case progress and benefit status. Verify patient eligibility and insurance coverage using Health Care Authority systems and other healthcare databases Assist patients with Medicaid, Medicare, and private insurance inquiries, ensuring accurate benefit information is provided Review medical records, discharge plans, and financial documentation to determine benefits eligibility in compliance with Medicaid regulations Assist with appeals, hearings, and follow up documentation when benefits are delayed, denied, or terminated. Collaborate with guardians, medical staff, social workers, and case managers to coordinate benefits for individuals with co-occurring disorders or mental health conditions Enter data accurately into healthcare management systems and files while maintaining patient confidentiality under HIPAA guidelines Support intake processes by gathering necessary documentation and verifying insurance information during patient registration Stay updated on changes in state Medicaid and Medicare policies, Medicaid regulations, SNAP, and other public assistance programs in the state of New Mexico. Experience working with vulnerable adults, guardianship programs, and healthcare facilities Strong organizational skills and file management. (Not required) Ability to manage multiple deadlines, and multitask while prioritizing workload affectively. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Proviciency with microsoft office and electronic record systems.
