In this vital role, you will be the first point of contact for verifying insurance coverage for cardiology patients, ensuring smooth scheduling and billing processes. Your energetic approach and attention to detail will help facilitate efficient patient care and streamline administrative workflows. This position offers an exciting opportunity to apply your medical office experience and insurance knowledge in a fast-paced, rewarding environment dedicated to improving patient outcomes. Responsibilities Verify patient insurance coverage for cardiology services by contacting insurance companies and reviewing policies. Confirm patient eligibility, benefits, and pre-authorizations to ensure coverage aligns with scheduled procedures. Accurately document all insurance verification details within the electronic medical records system while maintaining HIPAA compliance. Collaborate with medical staff to resolve any insurance-related issues that could delay patient care or billing. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of managed care policies, CPT (Current Procedural Terminology) codes, ICD (International Classification of Diseases) codes, including ICD-9 and ICD-10, to ensure proper coding and billing accuracy. Assist with medical records management related to insurance claims and verification documentation. Support the office team by providing clear communication regarding insurance requirements and coverage limitations. Skills Strong understanding of managed care plans, medical coding (CPT, ICD-9, ICD-10), and insurance verification processes. Previous experience working in a medical or dental office environment with familiarity in medical terminology and medical records management. Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality at all times. Excellent communication skills for liaising with insurance companies, patients, and healthcare providers. Ability to navigate insurance portals and electronic health record systems efficiently. Office experience that demonstrates organizational skills and attention to detail in a fast-paced setting. Familiarity with medical coding practices including ICD coding standards used in cardiology procedures.
