Job Description
The hours for this position are 9am-1pm Mon-Fri and has the option for full-time remote work after completing on-site training. The Homelessness Helpline Specialist, as the point of contact for individuals accessing homeless services in the Rappahannock Region, is responsible for collecting demographic information and triaging individuals and families into needs-based services. The Homelessness Helpline Specialist (1) utilizes diversion strategies to see if other resources, outside of shelter, will work for the client (2) oversees the process by which those accessing the homeless services crisis response system are accessed, prioritized and referred to permanent housing resources in the community and (3) enters information into the HMIS database system. The position is located in Fredericksburg, Virginia and reports to the Homelessness Prevention and Coordinated Entry Program Manager. Qualifications Associates Degree or Bachelor's Degree in Social Services or related field preferred. Experience may be substituted. Ability to handle sensitive material, maintaining the highest level of confidentiality and displaying sound judgement. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite Experience working clients who are homelessness, who have come from homelessness or at-risk preferred.
