The PRW is grounded in the belief that recovery and wellness are possible for everyone, including those impacted by trauma, abuse, or periods of significant emotional distress. Peer Support Specialist Role Peer Warmline Specialists provide compassionate, recovery-focused, peer-to-peer support via phone to individuals seeking support with a variety of challenges. Through empathy, active listening, shared experience, and connection, Peer Warmline Specialists create empowering relationships and offer hope to callers seeking someone who understands and will listen. Key Responsibilities The Peer Support Specialist is responsible for the following duties and responsibilities: Provide peer support to individuals in recovery using Intentional Peer Support and Wellness Recovery Action Plan (WRAP) principles. Model and support callers in developing wellness tools, coping strategies, and personal recovery goals. Establish and maintain a peer relationship rather than a hierarchical relationship. Provide information, referrals, and resource navigation related to mental health and community resources Communicate effectively and respectfully with individuals from diverse and multicultural backgrounds using a non-judgmental, person-centered approach. Maintain accurate and confidential documentation for all callers served. Participate in regular supervision, team meetings, and ongoing professional development and training. Monitor and respond to email communications in a timely and professional manner. Maintain professional boundaries, confidentiality, and standards of conduct. Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned. Qualifications and Experience The skills, abilities, and education requirements listed below serve as the minimum qualifications for the Peer Support Specialist role:

Certification:

 Certified Recovery Support Practitioner or Certified Peer Recovery Specialist (CPRS) certification.

Experience:

 Two or more years of experience as a Peer Support Specialist preferred.

Lived Experience:

 Personal experience with mental health recovery.

Knowledge:

 Understanding recovery-oriented and trauma-informed care.

Communication:

 Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work effectively with diverse populations.

Technology & Organization:

 Proficiency with Microsoft Office, internet applications, data collection, and documentation.

Self-Care:

 Commitment to maintaining personal recovery, wellness, and self-care.

Collaboration:

 Ability to work independently and effectively as part of a team.

Cultural Competency:

 Ability to work respectfully with individuals across varied ages, socioeconomic backgrounds, and educational levels.

Bilingual:

 Bilingual ability preferred. Work Environment and Requirements Ability to maintain a flexible schedule that includes required evening and weekend availability.
