Executive Assistant to the Founder and CEO War on the Rocks Washington, DC Job Details Full-time $100,000 - $130,000 a year 1 hour ago Benefits Health insurance Dental insurance Vision insurance Qualifications Confidential information handling Executive administrative support Communication platforms Productivity software Full Job Description Ryan Evans is the founder and CEO of both War on the Rocks (WOTR, warontherocks.com), the world-renowned publication and podcast on military and international affairs, and Bedrock Knowledge, Inc. (thebedrock.co), an enterprise software company focused on knowledge in and of the workforce, across the public-private sector divide. Mr. Evans is looking for a force multiplier across two distinct but strategically related organizations. The person will manage competing priorities with judgment and discretion, interface with key stakeholders, investors, and board members, and function as an extension of Ryan's attention. The right candidate has operated in these circles before, knows what it means to support a principal at the intersection of media, policy, and tech. What You Will Do Principal Support & Schedule Management Own the principal's calendar across both organizations, managing time allocation with strategic intent. Anticipate conflicts, triage competing demands, and protect focused time. Prepare briefing materials, agendas, and background research before key meetings so the principal arrives informed and ready. Track commitments, follow-ups, and action items across a wide range of stakeholders, ensuring nothing falls through the cracks. Corporate Governance & Operations Track corporate filing deadlines, board meeting schedules, and related governance obligations. Maintain organized records of corporate documents, agreements, and correspondence. Support preparation of board decks, updates, and other materials. Travel & Logistics Manage domestic and international travel arrangements. Prepare detailed travel briefs with meeting context, contact information, and relevant background. Anticipate and resolve logistical issues. Project & Event Coordination Support the principal's role in WOTR events (WOTR has its own event director), including conferences, panels, and sponsor engagements, coordinating logistics and communications. Track projects requiring cross-organizational coordination between WOTR and Bedrock teams. Requirements 5+ years supporting a C-suite executive, founder, or senior government official in a high-tempo environment Exceptional written communication skills (for example, you can draft a crisp, professional email under time pressure without using AI and it will not need to be rewritten) Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities across multiple organizations or workstreams simultaneously. Discretion and sound judgment when handling sensitive information. Proficiency with standard productivity and communications platforms. Comfort in environments where priorities shift quickly and the ability to stay organized under ambiguity. Preferred Experience supporting a founder through a company growth phase or period of organizational change. Experience supporting executives across two or more distinct organizations simultaneously. Benefits Competitive salary commensurate with experience ($100,000 to 130,000 base + annual bonus). Benefits package discussed at offer stage, but it includes fully paid premiums for medical, dental, and vision insurance. Total compensation and benefits reflect the dual-organization scope and the level of trust.
