POSITION SUMMARY
Provides comprehensive administrative and strategic support to the Senior Rabbi. Serving as a trusted partner and representative of the Senior Rabbi's office, this position plays a critical role in ensuring the effective management of the Rabbi's time, priorities, communications, and engagement with congregants, staff, clergy, lay leaders, and the broader community.
ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES
Executive Support
  • Manage and maintain the Senior Rabbi's complex calendar, scheduling meetings, appointments, programs, lifecycle events, and speaking engagements.
  • Coordinate competing priorities and proactively manage the Rabbi's time to maximize effectiveness and impact.
  • Prepare briefing materials, agendas, correspondence, and meeting documents.
  • Manage travel arrangements and related logistics when needed.
  • Serve as the primary administrative point of contact for the Senior Rabbi. Congregational & Community Relations
  • Serve as a welcoming and professional liaison between the Senior Rabbi and congregants, lay leaders, donors, community partners, and visitors.
  • Respond to inquiries and requests with discretion, sensitivity, and professionalism.
  • Facilitate communication and follow-up between the Rabbi and members of the congregation.
  • Assist with outreach related to pastoral care, lifecycle events, and congregational engagement. Clergy & Leadership Support
  • Coordinate meetings and communications with clergy, senior staff, officers, board members, and committee leaders.
  • Support the Rabbi's involvement in governance, leadership development, and strategic initiatives.
  • Prepare materials and correspondence related to board, committee, and leadership activities.
  • Track assignments, action items, and follow-up resulting from meetings and conversations. Communications & Correspondence
  • Draft, edit, and manage correspondence on behalf of the Senior Rabbi.
  • Assist with speeches, remarks, acknowledgments, lifecycle communications, and congregational messaging.
  • Ensure timely responses to communications while maintaining Rabbi's voice and style.
  • Manage confidential information with the highest level of discretion. Administrative Operations
  • Maintain organized records, files, and correspondence.
  • Coordinate logistics for meetings, special events, donor gatherings, and clergy-related programs.
  • Assist in managing special projects and organizational initiatives.
  • Collaborate closely with Communications, Membership, Development, Education, and Operations teams to support congregational priorities. Additional Responsibilities
  • Manage the bereavement support for the congregation during the work week and a rotation with administrative staff for off hours.
  • Support a culture of hospitality, responsiveness, and excellence within the congregation.
  • Participate in organizational initiatives and special projects as assigned.
  • Perform other duties necessary to support the mission and priorities of WHC and the Senior Rabbi's office.
