Jul 20 2026 The Athens-Meigs Educational Service Center (AMESC) is seeking qualified applicants for a part-time Payroll Clerk position. This will be a 28 hours per week position (4 days per week).

Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED ( Associates Degree in Accounting or equivalent preferred) Payroll Clerk experience preferred Must pass BCI and FBI background checks Essential Functions, but not limited to: Complete payroll operations for the purpose of ensuring the timely and accurate payroll generation Maintain a wide variety of payroll information for the purpose of ensuring the availability of documentation and compliance with established policies and regulatory guidelines Compile statistical and payroll data from a variety of sources for the purpose of providing summaries to other personnel and/or ensuring compliance with established guidelines Monitor assigned payroll activities and/or program components for the purpose of ensuring compliance with established financial, legal, and/or administrative requirements Prepare a variety of payroll-related documents for the purpose of documenting activities, providing a written reference, and/or conveying information Research and resolve discrepancies of payroll, benefit information, accuracy of records, and employee payments to ensure accuracy and adherence to procedures prior to processing Enroll employees in offered benefit programs as requested and cancel coverage of former employees and current employees upon request following federal guidelines. As well as process monthly payments to insurance companies for the purpose of ensuring ongoing insurance coverage for employees and their families Review payroll and a variety of insurance-related information for the purpose of ensuring the accuracy of payroll and insurance records Process and remit payment received from payroll deductions to various entities both manually and electronically Reconcile payroll account balances for the purpose of maintaining accurate account balances in complying with established guidelines Prepare contracts for new employees and reassigned employees, obtain all required signatures, and file appropriately Classified Position
