Job Description
UNIVERSAL PROMISE
is a 501(c)(3) that was founded in 2011 with a mission to achieve and sustain equity via education. We support that mission by providing individuals and institutions in underserved regions of South Africa with the academic resources needed to ensure educational and career opportunities that will promote just, civil, and hopeful societies. The Assistant Executive Director is a 40-hour per week salaried position with flexible work hours (in the Rhode Island office and hybrid), an annual compensation of $45,000, and two weeks of paid vacation per year. The Assistant Executive Director must be passionate about our vision of education as a central means by which to achieve and sustain equity, embrace our core values in the delivery of our mission, and understand and respect the culture in which Universal Promise is operating. The Assistant Executive Director supports the Executive Director in running Universal Promise programs, including, but not limited to, communications, marketing, community outreach, strategic-planning, and development: focusing on securing a broad range of financial support for our programs and projects. The Assistant Executive Director reports directly to the Executive Director. The Assistant Executive Director supports the Executive Director's responsibilities to- establish and manage policies and programs (including volunteer activities) for the day-to-day operation of Universal Promise,
- oversee marketing, social media, and other communications efforts,
- establish and maintain relationships with local and international entities to further our mission,
- network extensively to attract more Education Sponsors and other new donors, foster relationships with existing donors, and oversee donor acknowledgements,
- design, execute, and evaluate diverse and relevant fundraising initiatives, such as corporate giving, annual appeals, grants, speaking engagements, monthly fundraisers, #401Gives, and the yearly gala,
- meet targeted year-over-year percentage increases in donors and funds raised as determined by the annual budget, and
- maintain the fiscal integrity of the organization by creating an annual budget, operating within that budget, and ensuring maximum resource utilization. The Assistant Executive Director must also
- serve on the Fundraising & Marketing Committee of the Board,
- provide, in a timely manner, information the Executive Director needs to make informed decisions,
- seek the guidance of the Executive Director when required, and
- execute other duties, as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- a bachelor's degree (or equivalent service) and a minimum of two-years of experience in the non-profit sector: fundraising, donor relations (CRM), and grant-writing experience preferred
- a well demonstrated ability to prioritize, execute, and evaluate donor recruitment and fundraising
- experience managing nonprofit financials
- strong organizational skills that include the ability to plan, delegate, and meet deadlines
- excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including public speaking and writing
- understanding of marketing, public relations, and social media
- proficiency with Google Suite or MS Office Suite, Google Analytics, Google Ads for Nonprofits, AI, fundraising software, and virtual meeting tools
