Full Job Description File Clerk Job Description McLetchie Law is looking for a versatile and highly organized administrative staffer. In this role, you will be responsible for performing electronic and hard copy filing of incoming and outgoing legal materials, assist with data entry and document organization, and assisting with other duties when required. This position may lead to full time employment if desired.
File Clerk Responsibilities:
- Following risk management protocols, perform electronic and hard copy filing of incoming and outgoing legal materials:
- File/refile in timely fashion.
- Maintain file room in orderly fashion.
- Make recommendations regarding filing procedures to Paralegal.
- Special projects: assist with data entry and document organization work with outside vendors.
- Performing secretarial and administrative duties.
- Entering data, maintaining databases, and keeping records.
- Ensure client files are maintained in secure and organized fashion.
- Copying, scanning, sending, and faxing documents,
- Filing and retrieving corporate records, documents, and reports.
- Ability to organize a daily workload by priorities.
- Must be able to meet deadlines in a fast-paced quickly changing environment.
- Perform tasks in timely manner. Communicate with supervisors in advance if tasks cannot be completed or with concerns about workload and keep attorneys aware of task progress.
- Other office tasks as needed.
Requirements:
- Team oriented.
- At least a high school diploma or GED is required; further education preferred.
- 1-2 years of experience as a file clerk would be advantageous.
- Experience in law office preferred.
- Extensive experience in creating documents and spreadsheets, using office software such as MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat Pro.
- Advanced typing, note-taking, recordkeeping, and organizational skills.
- Working knowledge of printers, copiers, scanners, and fax machines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills.
