Job Description
Overview Join our dedicated team as a Forensic Interviewer, a vital role committed to supporting children and families through sensitive and complex investigations. In this position, you will conduct specialized interviews with children who have experienced abuse or neglect, ensuring their voices are heard in a safe, supportive environment. Your expertise will help law enforcement, child protective services, and legal professionals gather crucial information while prioritizing the child's well-being and emotional safety. This is an empowering opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of vulnerable children and their families. Duties Ability to be flexible and on-call 24/7. Conduct thorough, developmentally appropriate forensic interviews with children suspected of experiencing abuse or neglect, following established protocols and best practices. Collaborate closely with child protective services, law enforcement agencies, legal teams, and mental health professionals to coordinate case information and support child welfare efforts. Create a safe and welcoming environment that encourages children to share their experiences openly while minimizing trauma. Document interview findings accurately and comprehensively in reports that support ongoing investigations and legal proceedings. Provide crisis intervention and emotional support to children during interviews, addressing their immediate needs with sensitivity and professionalism. Maintain strict confidentiality of all case information in accordance with legal standards and organizational policies. Participate in ongoing training on topics such as child welfare laws, crisis management, behavioral health, and conflict management to enhance interview techniques and knowledge. Qualifications A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Social Work or a related field or two years of prior experience providing services to abused children and their families. Prior experience working with children in settings such as social work, childcare, or child protective services is highly desirable. Knowledge of child welfare systems, family law, and crisis intervention strategies is essential for success in this role. Strong skills in conflict management and behavioral health are necessary to handle sensitive situations effectively. Excellent communication skills with the ability to build rapport with children from diverse backgrounds. Ability to manage stressful situations calmly while maintaining professionalism and empathy. Certification or training related to forensic interviewing techniques is preferred but not required; willingness to learn is essential.
