STARTING PAY
$19.00 per hour
BENEFITS
Bilingual Spanish-Speakers receive an additional $1 per hour which is already included in the base pay rate, $2.00 weekend shift differential pay, 401k 3% match after six months of employment, Accrued PTO, Paid Holidays, Premium Pay, Insurance (Medical/HSA, EAP COBRA Qualified, Dental, Vision, Life, Voluntary Life, Voluntary Short-Term Disability)
RESPONSIBILITIES
The resident advocate is responsible to maintain confidentiality, security, safety, and general upkeep of the DOVE House; attend to the overall needs of the in-shelter clients and answer all helpline and dispatch phone calls; along with assisting in-intake and exit of clients; and maintain a professional and considerate manner while acting as a Resident Advocate at the DOVE House. Full-time resident advocates are also tasked with some training assignments, as well. Employee is also expected to stay current with best practices for providing victim advocacy, which includes a 40-hour victim advocacy training.
Full-time bilingual advocates work closely with our Spanish Advocacy Team to create/adapt/activate protocols that ensure timely response to calls, walk-ins, and intakes for all Spanish-speaking survivors at various points of entry; and to support the outreach awareness that is extended to the Spanish-speaking community.
JOB DUTIES
- Maintain security, safety, and upkeep of shelter
- Follow policy and procedures
- Attend to the overall needs of the in-shelter clients
- Provide victim advocacy as needed
- Operate the 24hr hotline and provide crisis advocacy
- Support client action plan goals
- Document activities and notes in database and advocate logs
- Provide training for volunteers and new staff advocates, as assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Proficient Spanish language skills required
- High school diploma and two years' experience working with the public.
- Clear criminal background check
- Two years' experience working with the public
- Strong communication skills; including phone skills
- CPR/first aid required within 30 days of hire
