JOB SUMMARY
Under general direction from the Director of Legal Center, the Legal Specialist handles verification of customers' information for issuing legal suits, preparing legal court documents, and documenting all activity on accounts. This position requires excellent attention to detail, strong verbal and written communication skills, and excellent customer service skills.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/DUTIES
Verify residence and employment prior to issuing legal suit against customer Verify that the customer has not filed for bankruptcy prior to filing legal Charge proper legal fees to the customer's account on the date of filing suit Prepare all legal court documents and verify information for accuracy Mail all documents and checks to the correct court for the suit Create legal log listing all new claims and send to the necessary branches monthly Document all activity on accounts, as well as reasons on all voided check copies
QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required: Strong computer skills. Proficient in Microsoft. Strong organizational skills Ability to communicate well with others Customer service focus, both internally and externally Good attendance and work ethic, being present and prompt on all scheduled workdays A valid driver's license EDUCATION and/or
EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma or equivalency Administrative experience preferred Knowledge of and legal experience with collections is a plus This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This job operates in a professional office environment. This position requires sitting for long periods of time and very frequent use of a keyboard. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, scanners, and fax machines. Must be able to occasionally lift up to 5 pounds unassisted.
EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
