Job Description

A respected and long-established Southern California law firm is seeking an experienced Litigation Legal Assistant / Legal Secretary to support a busy litigation practice. This position offers the opportunity to work alongside experienced attorneys on a broad range of complex litigation matters in a fast-paced, professional environment. The Role The successful candidate will provide high-level administrative and litigation support to attorneys managing active caseloads. This is an ideal opportunity for a detail-oriented legal professional who thrives under pressure, takes pride in their work, and can effectively manage competing deadlines. Key Responsibilities Litigation & Document Management Draft, proofread, format and finalise pleadings, motions, subpoenas, notices, briefs, correspondence and other legal documents Prepare filings for state, federal and appellate courts Manage electronic filing and service of court documents Maintain litigation calendars, court deadlines and discovery schedules Coordinate document production and case file management Administrative Support Manage attorney calendars and scheduling Coordinate depositions, mediations, hearings and client meetings Open new matters, process conflicts checks and maintain client records Handle correspondence, phone calls and general administrative tasks Client & Attorney Liaison Serve as a key point of contact for clients, courts, opposing counsel and vendors Support attorneys in meeting litigation deadlines and client expectations Maintain the highest levels of professionalism and confidentiality Qualifications Minimum 5 years' litigation legal assistant or legal secretary experience Strong knowledge of California court procedures and litigation practice Extensive experience with state and federal e-filing systems Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including advanced Word formatting Excellent organisational, communication and time-management skills Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously Experience with legal document management and calendaring systems Knowledge of ProLaw, Worldox or similar systems is advantageous What We're Looking For Highly organised and proactive Professional, polished and client-focused Able to work independently and as part of a collaborative team Comfortable supporting a busy litigation desk with competing deadlines Demonstrates discretion when handling confidential information The Opportunity Join a well-established and respected law firm Collaborative and supportive working environment Sophisticated litigation practice Long-term career growth potential Competitive compensation and comprehensive benefits package For a confidential discussion regarding this opportunity, please get in touch.
