We are a modern, paperless law firm focused primarily on business litigation, with additional personal injury and criminal defense matters. This is an opportunity to become an integral part of a growing practice. The firm currently consists of one attorney with plans to expand to 2-3 attorneys over the next 12 months. We are looking for a proactive, organized professional who enjoys taking ownership of their work, solving problems, and helping keep a busy litigation practice running efficiently. What You'll Do This position combines traditional legal secretarial responsibilities with litigation support and office operations management.
Responsibilities include:
Calendaring and tracking deadlines Assisting with case organization and file management Maintaining document organization within our paperless system Preparing, formatting, proofreading, and compiling pleadings and legal documents Assisting with filing requirements in California state and federal courts Electronic filing and service of documents Trial preparation, hearing preparation, and exhibit organization Preparation of exhibit binders and supporting materials Communicating professionally with clients, courts, vendors, and opposing counsel Answering and routing phone calls Assisting with subpoena, service, and records retrieval processes Helping improve office procedures, workflows, and efficiencies Maintaining office supplies and assisting with office upkeep, including food, beverages, and conference room readiness Providing deadline reminders and helping ensure matters remain on track Required Qualifications Minimum 1 year of litigation support, legal secretary, or legal assistant experience Strong knowledge of California court filing requirements Experience formatting pleadings and legal documents Experience with trial and hearing preparation Advanced proficiency with Adobe Acrobat Strong proficiency with Microsoft Word and Outlook Experience preparing exhibits, document compilations, and court filings Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail Strong written and verbal communication skills Professional demeanor with clients and staff Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines Reliable transportation and dependable attendance Preferred Qualifications Experience with Clio Experience with OneLegal Experience coordinating service of process and subpoenas Familiarity with electronic discovery and document management systems Experience in business litigation, personal injury, or criminal defense matters Experience working in a paperless law firm environment Compensation & Benefits Competitive compensation based on experience Health insurance 401(k) plan Paid time off Professional growth opportunities Direct involvement in the growth of an expanding litigation practice Who Will Be Successful Here The ideal candidate is highly organized, technologically proficient, and takes initiative without waiting to be told what needs to be done.
